Patricia Bessie Named Resident Service Director of Renaissance of Annandale

ANNANDALE, Va. (April 3, 2019) – Patricia Bessie has been named resident service director of Renaissance of Annandale, a premier memory care community serving Fairfax County scheduled to open in early 2019.

Bessie will hire, train and coach staff members who are dedicated, committed and passionate about caring for Renaissance seniors who suffer from dementia and other memory disorders. Her other responsibilities include overseeing resident assessments, implementing physician orders and maintaining a healthy work environment to ensure the caregiving team is fully equipped to provide the best quality of care.

“Patricia has the ability to gain trust and respect from her department and the strength to be fair and hold them accountable. The knowledge of regulations she possesses will shine with our clinical success at Renaissance of Annandale. We welcome Patricia with open arms,” said Pamela Phillips, executive director of Renaissance of Annandale.

Bessie brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience to Renaissance of Annandale. She has held a wide range of positions which have allowed her opportunities to better serve residents challenged with various types of dementia. Bessie has previously served as a resident care director, executive director, unit manager triage nurse and an assisted living and memory care coordinator.

“My first love and passion has always been working and caring for residents with dementia. My dedication, commitment and passion in what I love doing has brought me to Renaissance. I am truly grateful for this opportunity,” Bessie said.

She cites Mother Theresa’s call for people to put love into what they do as a guiding principle for protecting and advocating for residents whose families have entrusted their care to Renaissance of Annandale.

Bessie is a registered nurse and earned an assisted living facility license after completing the Virginia Administrator-In-Training program. She attended Louisiana Vocational Nursing School and Stratford University and has previously served as a certified nursing assistant and licensed practical nurse.

Bessie and her husband Michael, a retired Marine, live in Springfield, Va. They have three children and seven grandchildren. She enjoys serving in different capacities in church, traveling, reading, dancing and attending family events.
