Renaissance of Annandale Begins Monthly Caregiver Support Meetings on Tuesday, May 7

Free caregiver support group, open to the public, meets monthly to discuss challenges, share practical wisdom and more.

ANNANDALE, Va. (April 29, 2019) – Renaissance of Annandale, a premier memory care community serving Fairfax County scheduled to open in early 2019, will host free monthly caregiver support group meetings beginning Tuesday, May 7.

The Renaissance Caregiver Support Group is open to the public and will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Renaissance of Annandale conference room. The meetings offer caregivers an opportunity to acknowledge challenges, share practical wisdom, nurture hope and laugh. The May 7 meeting will instruct caregivers on how to obtain information, use support tools and talk to and be understood by loved ones who may be suffering from memory loss conditions.

“The  Renaissance Caregiver Support Group is a wonderful resource for families, whether they have long provided care for an aging loved one or are about to embark on that process. We welcome everyone to come as they are to share and learn,” said Pamela Phillips, executive director of Renaissance of Annandale.

Margaret Comisky, a licensed clinical social worker and gerontologist, will assist Renaissance of Annandale with its first support group meeting. She has professional experience in geriatric mental health, care management, medical social work and adult daycare programming.

“I am most drawn to working alongside families navigating the various opportunities and challenges related to life transitions and the aging process. I look forward to speaking with Renaissance Caregiver Support Group and helping those families understand and cope with their situations,” said Comisky.

Registration is not necessary to attend the support group meetings. For more information call Renaissance of Annandale at (703) 256-2525.
