Renaissance of Annandale Names Retired Army Officer Marcus Bailey as Chaplain

The veteran will provide ministerial support to the memory care community’s residents, families and team members.

ANNANDALE, Va. (February 24, 2022) – Renaissance Senior Living of Annandale, a premier memory care community serving Northern Virginia, has named retired U.S. Army officer Marcus Bailey as its chaplain.

Bailey, a Liberty University Rawlings School of Divinity graduate, will provide ministerial support and spiritual counsel to the memory care community’s residents, with scheduled services on Wednesday evenings and on Sundays. Bailey will also provide support as needed to residents, their families and Renaissance team members.

Following a career of over 20 years serving as an Army infantry/information operations officer, Bailey is refocusing his career on his passion for connecting with older adults who experience cognitive impairment.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Marcus and seeing his passion for seniors. Marcus has already been making a focused effort to get to know our residents and connect with them on a personal level. I know he is going to be an asset to both our Renaissance family and the greater Annandale community,” Jessica Peters, Executive Director of Renaissance of Annandale, said.

Bailey will serve under the guidance of David Riggs, who was appointed Co-Director of Chaplaincy program for Renaissance of Annandale’s parent company, Legacy Senior Living, in January.

“When I met Marcus, I wholeheartedly knew he was the man Renaissance of Annadale needed to serve as its chaplain. Not only does he have outstanding credentials and ministry experience, but he is someone who exudes the love of God, and our residents will easily relate to him personally,” Riggs said.

Bailey is a father of three children between the ages of 5-16 and has been married to his wife, Katresha, for over 17 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in general studies from Alcorn State University. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, cooking, spending time with his family, and observing the beauty of nightfall. Marcus is a member of Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Va.

“God always opens the right doors at the right time. I know without a shadow of a doubt that Renaissance of Annandale is where God is calling me to serve in this hour. This community has welcomed me with open arms, and it is an honor to serve them in this capacity,” Bailey said.
